When Pati & Tom planned their wedding in Barcelona, they were thinking of a late summer warm & sunny afternoon with golden skies and lavander, pine & sea salt scents in the air. Flying in from the Australian winter, it was something to expect. The weather doesn’t always complies and the wedding day rose with clouds, fog and rain. But sometimes, magic appears where less expected.
Can Valldaura is a gorgeous old house in the mountains just beside Barcelona. Weirdly, as a wedding photographer in Barcelona, I’d never shot there before and I was really looking forward to it. When I was on my way there I was concerned about the weather (just like everyone else that day) but a wonderful surprise was waiting for me.
As soon as I arrived I realized the foggy, misty and cloudy day gave the house a moody feel that complemented the environment perfectly. The warm tones of the house interiors shone with the soft window light, and the space for the ceremony was incredibly beautiful. It was different than what everyone had in mind, but a wonderful difference.
Back to Pati & Tom, the moment I got their first email I knew I wanted to be part of their day. They are an incredible couple, full of life, laughter and love. They have a lovely daughter, Matilda, who is about the same age as my son, and being a father you can appreciate the love present there, as they’re not a couple anymore but a FAMILY, the most wonderful adventure ever. It was very special and I can’t be happier to show you their story today.
